The Final Study Guide in Course 2!
We’ve just published our latest book, Heaven: Our Ultimate Destiny, the third and final study guide in Course 2 of The Joy of Christian Discipleship Series. As we’ve noted, the material in Course 2 overlaps and goes beyond that found in Course 1 with somewhat denser content and reading material. As such, the course can stand alone and be studied either before or after Course 1 by relatively new believers, long-standing believers, or even members of churches who might not consider themselves to be “evangelical” in their focus or traditional affiliations.
Heaven casts a vision of where we will be after we die and how we can live our lives between now and then. Written and laid out with 12 weekly lessons in the familiar group study format of the Series, Heaven investigates the destination of our eternal hope in the hereafter beyond the day of judgment, the transitions we can anticipate at the end of our earthly lives, and the journey ahead of us here as believers in Christ.
Many (if not most) Christians have a very vague idea of what “heaven” will be like after they die even though the Scriptures have much to say about the subject and God’s promises about it. Some think that a kind of “purgatory” will await them for further purification before arriving in a celestial paradise, but many just put their hands up as if to say, “I have no idea.” What do you and your fellow Christians think? Heaven promises to be a stimulating group study of pertinent Scriptures. We’re going to be opening our home to host a weekly adult Bible study on the topic next month. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5
